About UsOur PeopleSurreyPeter Wilman FCA - Partner Peter Wilman is a partner in Woolford & Co. Chartered Accountants and director of Dixcart International Limited. Qualifying as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1977, Peter has enjoyed a distinguished career within the financial industry, including a number of years as Vice President of Security Pacific National Bank (at the time, the sixth largest bank in the USA). With his extensive international experience, Peter also represented the American banks in London at the Bank of England, in his role as chairman of the American Banks Association of the London Financial Controllers Committee. Since 1989 Peter has been responsible for the UK tax, audit and accounting departments and managing our businesses in the UK. He also specialises, through Dixcart in the UK, in management consultancy work and directing all major project development. Laurence Binge ACA - Partner Laurence qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985. Before joining Woolford & Co. and the Dixcart Group in 1992 he spent six years in general practice, latterly with Kidsons Impey (now part of Baker Tilley). In 1995 Laurence was made a Director of Dixcart International Limited. He advises clients on wealth preservation and the use of tax efficient structures for both international trade and asset holding. In addition Laurence provides solutions to enable clients to enjoy commercial opportunities available within the British Isles. Such benefits include zero rate corporation tax and low rates of income tax in the Isle of Man and the generous rules applicable to UK non-domiciles. Laurence became a partner in Woolford & Co. in 2007. Joe Dunne FCA - Partner Joe became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1973. He was a partner with an international firm for seven years before moving to Kenya, where he was responsible for the audits of major state institutions. From there he moved to a firm of Human Resources Consultants operating in the Middle East. On return to the UK Joe was appointed Partner at a City firm specialising in partnership organisations. His work there included acting for the largest UK firm of patent and trademark attorneys and having overall responsibility for the audit of an international partnership encompassing over 250 Partners. Joe joined Woolford & Co. as a Partner in 2002, dealing with both UK and International client matters. Fiona Binge ACA - Management Accountant Fiona joined Dixcart in 1995 and is responsible for all accounting and financial issues for Dixcart Technical Solutions. She also helps review the accounts from the other Dixcart offices. In addition she assists some Woolford & Co. clients with accounting matters. Her previous positions include six years working as a manager and personal assistant to one of the partners at Citroen Wells Chartered Accountants. Fiona gained a BA Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance in 1984 and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales since 1987. Claire Booth - Accountant Claire joined Woolford & Co. in 1991, straight from college. She has completed a BSI Internal Auditor course and undertaken training in relation to Solicitors’ Accounts Rules. Claire manages a portfolio of clients, producing year-end statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns. She is also a member of the audit team, undertaking UK statutory audits where required by our clients. Timothy Davies BA ACA - Group Accountant and Administrator Tim joined Woolford & Co. in 1997 and is able to utilise his extensive co-ordinating skills in this role. His responsibilities extend throughout the Group, and he is involved with the administration and accounting for all Dixcart offices. He began his career as graduate trainee at Binder Hamlyn, progressing to audit manager. Tim spent some time working in Australia as assistant manager, and was then promoted to business advisory manager back in London after Binder Hamlyn merged with Arthur Andersen Worldwide. Tim graduated from Nottingham University in 1986 with a BA in Geography and qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1991. Yvonne Featherstone BSc. FCA CTA - Tax Manager Yvonne has worked as tax manager with Woolford & Co. since 1991, overseeing the affairs of an extensive range of clients and dealing with their personal and commercial taxation. Yvonne gained a First Class Honours Degree in Mathematics at Nottingham University in 1974. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1977 she went on to spend five years with Touche Ross in Manchester and Leeds, progressing to assistant manager in the company tax department. She then moved on to work for five years as tax manager with Rawlinson & Hunter, and then spent some time as an accounts manager at Bullimores Chartered Accountants in Surrey. She became a member of the Institute of Taxation in 1979. Philippa Myers Grad ISCA – Company Secretary Philippa has worked at Woolford & Co since 2003. Prior to joining she was the company secretary and compliance officer of a venture capital company in London. Philippa’s career started in trade finance before moving into company secretarial work. She assists our clients in all matters relating to good corporate governance such as maintenance of the statutory registers, resolutions and compliance with the Companies Acts. She also has responsibility for in-house compliance with anti-money laundering legislation. She is an Associate Member of the Compliance Institute. Michael Smith BA FCA - Audit and Computer Manager Mike has been audit manager with Woolford & Co. since 1989. He now acts as audit and systems manager for a number of clients. Mike gained a BA Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance at Kingston University in 1981 and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales since 1984. He began his career in 1981 with Midgley Snelling & Co., Chartered Accountants, progressing to audit manager, and spent two years as financial administration manager at Telecom Security Limited, a subsidiary of British Telecom. Julia Wigram ACA - Audit Manager Julia joined Woolford & Co. in 1996 as audit manager, dealing with a large portfolio of clients. She is also responsible for co-ordination of accounting staff training, and leads the accounting team. Julia is closely involved in helping small businesses develop and grow. She has a strong and lengthy commercial relationship with a number of SME clients. Julia qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1991. Angela Williams BSc. ACA CTA - Tax Manager Since joining Woolford & Co. as tax manager in 1995, Angela has taken responsibility for the taxation affairs of a wide variety of clients. She specialises in the taxation of individuals and owner-managed businesses. Angela graduated from the Polytechnic of North London in 1982 with a First Class Honours Degree in Chemistry, and worked as a chemical analyst for Thames Water Authority. She trained with Arthur Andersen & Co., and moved on to work as tax manager with KPMG Peat Marwick. She has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales since 1987 and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation since 1988. Jacqueline Wilman FCA - Administrator and Quality Control Supervisor Jacky's role at Woolford & Co. includes overseeing the internal administration. She is also responsible for quality control reviews of all audited accounts and deals with VAT issues. Jacky qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1975. GuernseyAlan Corlett FCA ACIS TEP FSI Alan joined Woolford & Co. in 1992. He is also managing director of Dixcart Trust Corporation Limited. Alan is responsible for the day to day running of the company, and the services provided to clients. Alan is very well qualified to advise clients on international commercial taxation and investment matters. He qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1982 and has passed the Institute's examination in investment business. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Planners, the International Tax Planners Association and the Institute of Directors. He holds the Securities Institute Diploma and the STEP Diploma in Offshore Trust Management. Alan qualified with KPMG in Guernsey, before moving to South Africa for a two year auditing contract with KPMG. He then moved to Investec Bank in Johannesburg, originally as a Group Financial Accountant and subsequently with Metboard Limited, an investment and property lending subsidiary of the Investec Group. Alex Magell BSc. ACA MSI Alex joined Woolford & Co. in 1996. He was appointed as a Director of Dixcart International Limited in 1997 and Dixcart Trust Corporation Limited in 1999. He deals with a varied portfolio of clients and is also head of the Dixcart operation in Sark, as well as co-ordinating the strategy and assisting in the development of the Dixcart office in Geneva. Alex’s career began in the audit department of Grant Thornton, where he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He is also a member of the Securities Institute and the International Tax Planning Association. Alasdair Milroy CA, B.Fin.Admin. - Senior Manager Alasdair joined Woolford & Co. in 2006. He is responsible for business development and managing a varied portfolio of clients. Alasdair commenced his career with Ernst & Young in Sydney, Australia and qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 1992. His early career involved working in both Audit and Business Advisory Services. Alasdair has had international management, financial and operational roles in the Channel Islands, Malta, Africa, Ireland and the UK. In 2000 Alasdair joined an international bank where he was responsible for financial control and reporting for two Irish banking subsidiaries. Alasdair’s industry experience includes fund management and administration, banking, corporate finance and the oil industry. John Nelson TEP John manages a portfolio of clients and is responsible for the development of new business. John also manages a range of companies and trusts, as well as having extensive international experience, including the Baltic States. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, having completed the Diploma in International Trust Management in 2004. John previously worked at a Guernsey trust company for over sixteen years. Prior to this he was employed by BDO Reads and spent a year as Project Leader for expeditions organised by Raleigh International. Robert Woolford FCA - Consultant Rob Woolford acts as a consultant to Woolford & Co. LLP Chartered Accountants. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and has extensive expertise in international taxation. Whilst a partner in his previous firm, Rob took responsibility for the development of its international division, also initiating the co-ordination of a worldwide association of professional accounting firms. Since the inception of Woolford & Co. LLP Rob has led the international operations of the business, particularly the development of a number of key business centres and an international network of professional contacts and associates. Mark Renouf - Senior Manager Mark joined the Guernsey office in October 2007. His speciality is property and he looks after a number of clients with high value property interests. A key element of his role involves liaison with various banks. He is also responsible for business development relating to property. Prior to joining Woolford & Co., Mark worked with the Royal Bank of Scotland Group for twenty five years. The last six years were spent in Guernsey where he was responsible for a portfolio of trust companies for corporate clients. Mark’s expertise includes property investment and development schemes in the UK and Guernsey, across both commercial and residential sectors. Isle of ManSimon Kelly FCCA Simon joined the Woolford & Co office in the Isle of Man in 1997 and was appointed as a Director of Dixcart Management (IOM) Limited the following year. As well as managing a portfolio of international clients, Simon is also responsible for the on-going management of the Isle of Man office. These responsibilities encapsulate administration as well as information technology. Simon's major priority is to develop and expand the company through a co-ordinated and concerted programme of marketing activity. Simon is a member of The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and has extensive managerial experience in the areas of audit and fund management. Pam Matthews Bsc(hons) FCCA - Client Services Manager Pam joined the Woolford & Co. Isle of Man office in January 2004 as Client Services Manager. As well as managing a portfolio of international clients she is responsible for the VAT agent services provided from the Woolford & Co. office in the Isle of Man. Pam is a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and has extensive experience in the CSP sector in the Isle of Man.
